Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for the Children & Young Peoples Workforce

Overview

Advanced Apprenticeships are an integrated programme of learning which lead to young people getting and applying the skills, knowledge and understanding required by employers.

They aim to give young people the opportunity to:

  • Achieve vocational, work-based qualifications
  • Learn on the job
  • Build up knowledge and skills
  • Gain qualifications

Advanced Apprenticeship programmes are an important route for new recruits to develop skills for employment. They are government-funded programmes of structured on-the-job training that enable employers to develop skilled staff.

This qualification meets the needs of candidates who work or want to work in health or social care settings or with children or young people in a wide range of settings, for example in the roles of:

  • Care Worker
  • Childminder
  • Early Years Practitioner
  • Nursery Nurse
  • Education Welfare Officer
  • Connexions Worker
  • Learning Mentor
  • Careers Adviser
  • Youth and Community Worker
  • Foster Carer
  • Speech and Language Therapist

Duration:

18 – 24 Months depending on the learner’s commitment to the programme along with support from their employer.

Assessment:

They are a mixture of work-based training and education that combine to form an Advanced Apprenticeship framework.

Assessments will be using a range of evidence i.e. Assessor Observation, Witness Testimony, Reflection, Work Products, Etc...

Programme Outline

The framework is made up of 4 main components:

  • Diploma in the Children & Young Peoples Workforce
  • Key/Functional Skills at Level2 in Application of Number and Communication (depending on prior achievement)
  • 12 hour Paediatric First Aid
  • CWDC Induction Standards
